The exhibition brings together positions on apathy and action in the context of structures of power and/or regimes that are at war. The relationship and behavior of the individual to it's own society is questioned, as well as it's own (in-) autonomy. Possibilities for action, resistance, defiance and sabotage are sought after, that subsequently open up perspectives on the state of cultural production itself.

"Audiovisionen": Thomas Fehlmann + Daniela Huerta, Live-Visuals: Modellogia
19 / 05 / 2022
Audiovisionen is a platform for acoustic, electronic and electro-acoustic live music, in the rooms of the Zwingli Church, Berlin. Curated by Hannes Teichmann, as part of the program of the Kulturraum-Zwingli Kirche e.V.
Electronic music pioneer Thomas Fehlmann (Kompakt, Palais Schaumburg, The Orb, 3MB, Ocean Club Radio) explores the reverberant space and the edges and contours of Zwingli Church with a new ambient live set.

Mexican multimedia artist Daniela Huerta immerses herself in hyperreal soundscapes, sensitively and immersively deconstructing the combination of field recordings, sound archives, rhythms, and live sampling.

To further expand the senses, Modellogia provides the visuals live.

..for this occasion, Popp has teamed up with MODELLOGIA, who are contributing an ultra-dynamic, colorful blend of 3D animation, motion graphics, heavily processed retro movies, found footage and video game aesthetics - all performed live during the set.
MODELLOGIA are merging many diverse visual narratives into a stimulating, post-organic image-flow, beautifully accompanying the exhilarating complexity of the OVAL tracks.

"..much like the track, Russian visual artist Sveta Rybkina’s video for “Improg” takes the humble piano as its starting point, manipulating its form and sculpting it into a dizzying, ecstatic barrage of digital patterns.
The piano motif stemmed from Rybkina’s early batch of sketches for the Scis album cover, resurfacing once again when the artist was working with Popp on the live visuals for the album premiere at Kantine am Berghain in Berlin last month. He elaborates: “Initially, there were many attempts at making live action footage of a piano work (famous piano scenes in movies, piano-themed documentaries, videos of music/art performances featuring pianos etc), but ultimately, a CAD-rendered piano was chosen as the way to go, as it offered the most creative control”. Rybkina eschewed off-the-shelf animation tools and instead scripted the video manually, frame-by-frame, mirroring the meticulous level of detail Popp worked into the track’s intricate instrument loops.."

"..the cover of Eksploio contains a few clouds, but these clouds are relegated to the background of Scis, which focuses on two birds seemingly about to exchange gifts, perched in a field of stylized instruments. The art fits the music, and extends to the back cover as well. There we learn that the cloud itself is a gift, along with the tunes, while the scissor serves as a reminder of Popp’s loops and splices. (Those who recall reel-to-reel know that it’s more than a symbol.) It seems like Popp is having more fun than ever before, and his mood is contagious.."
